A Plan in Motion
Chapter 13: A Plan in Motion
Inside the dimly lit pool hall, Kendra sat with Original Cindy, Sketchy, and Herbal in a secluded booth, a pitcher of beer sitting on the table before them. Kendra's eyes were red-rimmed from crying, and her distress was evident to her friends.
"He's been a tremendous gentleman all along. I mean, you know, he was cool," Kendra lamented, her voice choked with emotion.
Original Cindy reached out, taking Kendra's hand in a comforting gesture. "It's alright. Tell me what that man-bastard did," she urged, her tone filled with sympathy.
As Kendra recounted her encounter with Lynch, Herbal and Sketchy exchanged knowing glances, their expressions darkening with indignation. Original Cindy, ever the voice of reason, took a swig of beer before offering her thoughts.
"Just like a man to think that the safe opens with a single-digit combination," she remarked wryly, her words tinged with bitterness.
Sketchy shook his head, his frustration evident. "Cindy, c'mon! Talk about your self-serving empathy," he chided, unable to contain his irritation.
Kendra continued, her voice trembling with anger. "So I slapped him," she confessed, her eyes flashing with defiance.
Herbal's fists clenched in outrage. "Did you knock his head off?" he demanded, his voice barely above a whisper.
But Original Cindy motioned for him to quiet down, her expression serious as she addressed Kendra. "Kendra, you need your dignity more than a job. Tell Lynch to drop dead in a bucket of acid," she advised, her tone resolute.
Sketchy leaned in, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "No, wait, that's lame, lame, lame. You gotta hit this guy where he lives; take it to him," he suggested, his voice filled with determination.
Herbal nodded in agreement, his voice low as he added, "I don't want to say this too loud. But I agree with Sketchy. You've got to make him run scared so that he never does this to anyone else, this Mister Lynch."
Kendra wiped the tears from her eyes, a glimmer of hope flickering in her gaze. "How?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Herbal exchanged a knowing look with Sketchy before leaning back in his seat with a sly grin. "Well, now, you just leave that up to Sketchy and me," he replied, his tone dripping with mischief.
